Their Story
Allicano is designed by Una O’Reilly. She has worked in the fashion Industry for over 3 decades. She graduated in Fashion and Textiles from NCAD and immediately launched her eponymous label selling under the name of ‘Una’. The ‘Una‘ collection was sold through showrooms in USA, London, Paris and Japan. The collections sold in specialty Boutiques and stores like Henri Bendel, Barneys New York, Charivari, Ice, Joyce, Fenwicks, Whistles, Brown Thomas and numerous independent boutiques worldwide. She had the honor of dressing the world renown, Sinéad O'Connor. Una was a finalist in the Touche Ross Business Woman of the year in 1989. She is a former London Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week Designer. Allicano is designed and manufactured in Una's Studio in Dublin. Fabrics are sourced worldwide. She specializes in unique, ethereal, colorful and romantic clothes which can be made to order in any size and available in a myriad of colors.
Our Story
In June 2019, Optimist Made Founder, Rochelle Webb took flight to Ireland for the second time in one year because she fell utterly and completely in love! Because of the graciousness of her best friend from college who opened up her home to her, she got to explore and find all the reasons to love the country. On this particular trip, Rochelle was meeting some friends from her hometown in Los Angeles and while on her way to meet those friends for dinner in the pouring, yes... POURING rain, Rochelle's wandering eyes obviously took her into the Allicano boutique. She just couldn't help herself. She wanted everything and did not care how late she would be for dinner. I mean... she had to stay dry, right? Why not take cover in this amazing shop. The beautiful Una O'Reilly who has now become a great friend to Rochelle was not in the shop on that day, but her retail associate gave her a card and they connected. Rochelle picked out a beautiful outfit, but needed it in a different size. Murphy's law, Una no longer had access to the textile used to make the garment. But, not so fast!!! Magical Una, found some remnant pieces buried in her workshop and custom made the skirt that Rochelle so desperately wanted. This ensemble has made made appearances on many major stages as it is now one of Rochelle's favorite go to's for very special occasions!
